We continue to push meaningful improvements in MyStudio’s V2 platform, and one area we’ve focused heavily on is attendance — not because it’s flashy, but because it quietly impacts almost every part of your business.

Attendance is often the earliest signal of engagement, progress, and risk. When members attend consistently, they improve faster, feel more connected, and stay longer. When attendance drops, churn often follows — long before a cancellation ever happens.

That’s why we rebuilt attendance in MyStudio V2 with a simple goal: make it so easy to use that it actually gets used every day, in every class.

See attendance tracking in action

Take a quick look at Master Tu Le walking through how InCourage Martial Arts takes attendance using MyStudio.

In this short video, he shows how simple and fast attendance can be when it’s built into the natural flow of class.

Designed for real studios and real class flow

If attendance slows things down, is a barrier for your members, or simply feels awkward, it won’t happen consistently. We see this all the time.

In MyStudio V2, the Attendance Portal has been redesigned to stay out of the way and fit naturally into how classes already run. Whether students arrive early, right on time, or after the start of class, check-in is fast and intuitive.

Students can check in using QR codes, PIN codes, or name search — giving studios flexible, fast options that make check-in easy for both members and staff, even during busy class transitions.

We’ve also given you the power to choose what works best for your studio, with admin settings that let you control how the portal behaves. And no special hardware is required. A simple tablet or iPad kiosk works seamlessly using the device’s built-in camera and touchscreen.

Attendance tracking that supports instructors, not just students

Attendance in V2 works hand in hand with the new Class Schedule section, providing instructors and staff with a clear, practical interface for managing attendance information before, during, and after class.

From the Class Schedule, your team can quickly see who is expected, who attended, and who may be falling behind — all in the same place they already go to manage their day. This gives instructors immediate context before class starts, without needing to ask questions or track things mentally. Attendance ties directly to relevant student details such as rank, progress, and eligibility, making it easier for instructors to coach intentionally rather than rely on memory or guesswork.

This turns attendance into something instructors actively use — not just something that gets recorded. It also makes behind-the-scenes adjustments simple and visible, so staff can confidently manage classes without digging through reports or switching tools.

Flexible attendance settings without added complexity

Attendance in MyStudio V2 gives studios clear, intentional control — without making things harder for staff or students.

You decide how attendance behaves, including whether students can check in if payments are past due, whether class limits or capacity rules apply, and what information is visible during check-in. These settings help ensure attendance supports your business rules automatically, without relying on manual enforcement.

And when small mistakes happen — a double check-in or the wrong class — fixing them takes seconds. Simply uncheck the name and move on.

The result is a smoother experience for students and fewer interruptions for staff, all while protecting the structure of your programs.

Why attendance tracking matters for retention and student progress

Consistent attendance tracking unlocks insight you can actually act on.It helps studios spot declining attendance early, reach out before disengagement turns into churn, and support students who need encouragement or accountability.

For martial arts and structured programs, especially, attendance is directly tied to progress. When instructors can easily see who’s showing up — and who isn’t — conversations become more intentional, more supportive, and more effective.

Attendance as a habit, not a hassle

Attendance in MyStudio V2 is about more than tracking who showed up. It’s about removing barriers so studios can do more of what they exist to do: teach, mentor, and make a positive impact in their communities.

When attendance is simple and consistent, instructors gain clearer insight into who is showing up regularly, who may be struggling to stay engaged, and who might benefit from encouragement or accountability. That visibility creates opportunities for timely conversations — the kind that help students stay engaged and growing.

For many studios, especially those working with kids and families, attendance is closely tied to personal growth. Showing up consistently builds habits, resilience, and self-belief. When instructors can easily see patterns and progress, they’re better equipped to support students as individuals — not just participants in a class.

By streamlining the administrative side of attendance, MyStudio V2 frees owners, instructors, and staff to focus less on logistics and more on teaching, community, and impact. Attendance becomes a quiet but powerful tool that supports stronger relationships, healthier studios, and a greater positive influence beyond the business's walls.
